2fer Friday with some Sympathy Thrown In

Last Friday (June 3), the wife and I reported to University Hospital in Denver at 5:45am for my neck surgery (that's another story). We were taken into the pre-op area about 6:15am where the various nurses and doctors stripped me of my clothes, poked me several times with sharp pointy needles, then proceeded to tell me the awful things they were planning on doing to me. At any rate... About the time they were getting ready to fill my arm full of "sedative" (quotes because it knocked me straight on my ass in about 15 seconds), Dayna got the funny ripply queesy look on her face and ran for the pre-op restroom. Then again. So twice.

Now the sympathy part where I come on stage for a guest appearance. The docs decided that I was doing well enough that I didn't need to stay the night in the hospital as planned. So they were sending me home. Kicking me to the curb. I was feeling *mostly* good coming out of anesthesia. But if any of you dear readers have ever had general anesthesia you know the going can be rough. And you're insanely thirsty as well. So the nurse offered me some juice. I chose cranberry. I knew to take it slow. Little tiny sips. By the time I'd gathered myself up, taken inventory of my senses, and got bundled in the car for the ride home I'd only sipped maybe 2 ounces. But the stirring was starting and I wasn't feeling good at all. So, yes, I blew my juice. Fortunately the nurses had included a handy puking bag for my comfort (and the comfort of those around me). It was one small isolated event. So I'm happy for that. Some nausea meds from the pregnant wife when I got home and all was good.
